Career Civility® is Officially Trademarked!
I have some big news to share today: Career Civility is officially a registered trademark! 🎉
It’s a milestone that feels both surreal and deeply meaningful because it reflects how far this work has come—and where it’s headed next.
A Quick Look Back
Career Civility started in 2019 as an idea born out of frustration with how workplace communication (or the lack thereof) impacted productivity, team morale, and overall confidence. In 2020, I filed for LLC status to begin this work more formally, creating resources, workshops, and trainings to help leaders and managers communicate better and help hard working professionals show up with more confidence at work.
Then in 2024, I began the trademark process to officially protect the name, brand, and work of Career Civility. For anyone unfamiliar, trademarks are not an overnight endeavor. They take patience, paperwork, and professional expertise. I worked with the incredible Zoe Bernstein (who deserves all the credit for navigating this process seamlessly) and after many months, Career Civility® was officially registered in 2025!
Why Trademarking Matters
For me, this trademark isn’t just a legal step. It’s a symbol of the value of this work and the impact it has on the lives and careers of the professionals and organizations I serve. It’s a commitment to continuing to build a brand that stands for stronger communication, healthier workplaces, and people feeling empowered to show up as their full selves at work.
What’s Next for Career Civility?
The mission remains the same: helping professionals and companies strengthen communication, reduce burnout, and build more collaborative, human-centric workplaces. But now, it’s time to take it even further.
In the months ahead, Career Civility will:
Expand corporate training offerings to support leaders, teams, and entire organizations in improving how they communicate, collaborate, and drive results.
Speak at conferences nationwide, bringing practical tools and mindset shifts to professionals in industries ranging from insurance to higher education to tech.
Develop new courses and resources to help individuals take ownership of their communication skills, boundaries, and confidence at work.
This trademark milestone is a reminder that building something meaningful takes time, dedication, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work that most people never see. I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of the Career Civility journey so far – clients, workshop attendees, newsletter readers, and every person who has shared, recommended, or learned from this work.
Thank you for being here. Here’s to the next chapter of creating healthier, stronger workplaces for us all.
